StandUp Malaysia, a female-youth-led organisation, launched a crowdfunding project named Laptop4Siswa, through a partnership with Rajiv Rishyakaran, ADN Bukit Gasing, to assist affected students who need laptop for their online classes.
In light of the postponement of physical classes (due to the upsurge of COVID19 cases), the collective effort will focus on handing out secondhand laptops from the kindhearted donors. We also welcome new or used laptops from donors to be distributed out to the students. In addition to that, we collect cash donations which will be used to restore some of the laptops if needed.
The purpose of this project is to acknowledge the fact that there are students who are unable to afford laptops mainly because of economic factors such as the parents lose jobs due to the pandemic. And some of the students have to share laptops among the siblings due to the limited devices that they have at home.
The application will be open from now until 20th October 2020 and will be screened and processed before donating the functional laptops to them. Those who are interested to donate can drop off the laptops at Pejabat ADUN Bukit Gasing.
